Link your parent account. Settings, then Parental Controls, then Link Parent Account. This gives you a dashboard without logging into your child's account.
Set a Parental PIN. Without one, your child can change every setting below.
Content maturity. Parental Controls, then Content restrictions, then Content maturity. Use the slider: Minimal for ages 5 to 8, Mild for ages 9 to 12, Moderate only if you are comfortable with it for teens.
Chat. Set text chat to Friends only. Set voice chat (ages 13 and up) to Friends or No one.
Friends list. Read the names. Ask about anyone you do not recognize.

What "inappropriate games" on Roblox actually are
Roblox is a platform where anyone can create and publish an experience. Most are harmless. A small fraction contain sexual content, gore, or other material that violates Roblox's Community Standards. The community calls these "condo" games.
What a condo game is
A condo game is a user-made experience that contains sexual or adult content: nudity, simulated sex acts, or sexually suggestive scenarios using Roblox avatars. They are not official Roblox content. They are created by users, they violate the platform's rules, and they are removed when Roblox's moderation detects them.
Most condo games are live for a few hours before they are taken down. New ones appear to replace them. In April 2026, Roblox began sending cease-and-desist letters to known condo creators, escalating from account bans to real-world legal threats (PiunikaWeb, April 2026).
How they get past moderation
Roblox reviews experiences before they go live, but the system has gaps that creators exploit:
Asset swapping. A game passes review looking clean, then the creator swaps in explicit models or textures after approval.
Misleading titles. The game is named something innocent. The content is hidden behind an in-game trigger or a specific action.
Script injection. Creators use reanimated scripts to display explicit content that was not part of the original submission.
Private servers and links. Some condo games are shared through direct links or private servers rather than appearing in search results, which makes automated detection harder.
Roblox's March 2026 Safety Snapshot reported approximately 5,000 game servers shut down per day for detected violations. That number reflects both the scale of the problem and the speed of removal. But a child who follows a link from a friend can reach a condo game before moderation catches it.
How children find them
Children rarely find condo games by searching Roblox. They find them through social links: a friend shares a link on Discord, a YouTube video shows a clip, or a group chat on another app passes one around. The social path is the one that matters, because it also means your child is being shown the content by someone they trust, or by someone who is building that trust.
How Roblox's content maturity system works in 2026
Roblox rates every experience with one of four content maturity labels. These are not age ratings. They describe what kind of content the experience contains, and the account system limits which labels a child can access.

Since June 2026, every user under 16 is placed in an age-based account: Roblox Kids (ages 5 to 8) or Roblox Select (ages 9 to 15). Kids accounts are locked to Minimal and Mild. Select accounts default to Moderate, but a parent can reduce that to Mild through parental controls (Roblox, June 2026).
Parents can set the content maturity level at: Settings, then Parental Controls, then Content restrictions, then Content maturity. Use the slider to choose the level you are comfortable with. You can also block individual games at Content restrictions, then Blocked games.
This system works for labeled content. Condo games are the content that never earns a label, because it violates the rules entirely. The maturity system keeps your child away from Moderate and Restricted games. It does not protect against a game that is labeled Minimal but swaps in explicit content after review.

The risk that settings cannot cover: inappropriate contact
Content moderation deals with what is on the screen. It does not deal with what is said in chat. The bigger risk on Roblox is not a condo game. It is a conversation.
Grooming on gaming platforms follows a pattern: friendly contact, trust building, boundary testing, then escalation. A conversation with a child on a gaming platform can turn into high-risk grooming in as little as 19 seconds, with an average of about 45 minutes (WeProtect Global Alliance, 2023). It does not start with anything inappropriate. It starts with help on a quest, a gift of Robux, or "you are really good at this."
The numbers are clear about the scale:
Roblox filed 65,381 reports to the NCMEC CyberTipline in 2025, up from 2,973 in 2022 (NCMEC, reports by electronic service provider). Those are reports filed by Roblox. The increase reflects both more incidents and better detection. No count of individual predators on Roblox exists; the CyberTipline number is the closest measure, and it counts reports, not people.
9% of Roblox's minor users reported an online sexual interaction on the platform (Thorn, 2024).
One in three boys aged 9 to 12 reported an online sexual interaction across any platform, lifetime (Thorn, 2024).
Three in four young gamers aged 10 to 17 experienced harassment in online multiplayer games (ADL, 2023).
The path from inappropriate content to inappropriate contact often runs through chat. A child who finds a condo game through a friend's link is already in a social channel where an adult could be present. The content is the lure; the conversation is the risk.

How to restrict your child's Roblox account by maturity level
Roblox gives parents a real set of controls. Here is what each one does for the content problem.
Content maturity
Go to Settings, then Parental Controls.
Select your child's account (if linked) or enter the Parental PIN.
Go to Content restrictions, then Content maturity.
Use the slider to set the level. For ages 5 to 8, Minimal and Mild are the only options on a Kids account. For ages 9 to 12, reduce from the Moderate default to Mild.
Blocked games
Under Content restrictions, then Blocked games, you can block individual experiences by name. If your child mentions a specific game that concerns you, block it here. The block holds even if your child's friends invite them.
Chat restrictions
Under Parental Controls, then Communication:
Set Experience Chat to Friends (not Everyone).
Set Direct Chat to Friends or No one.
For ages 13 and up: set Experience Voice Chat and Party Voice Chat to Friends or No one.
Parental PIN
Set a four-digit PIN under Parental Controls. Without it, your child can change every setting above. With it, they cannot.

Can you see what your child does on Roblox?
Roblox parental controls restrict. They do not monitor. There is no chat transcript for parents, and voice chat is not recorded. So the question most parents eventually ask is: if something happened in a session, would I know?

"If you see something weird or scary in a game, close it. You are never in trouble for that."
