Terms and conditions

Last updated · Sep 2, 2026

Welcome to Halo. By using this app, you agree to these Terms of Use.

1. What Halo is

Halo is a parental monitoring tool that helps parents oversee voice chat activity in their children's games. The app is intended for use by parents or legal guardians to monitor minors under their care.

2. Who can use Halo

  • You must be 18 years or older to create an account
  • You may only monitor devices belonging to children for whom you are the parent or legal guardian
  • You are responsible for complying with local laws regarding monitoring and consent

3. How monitoring works

  • The child starts a session on their device before gaming
  • Audio is captured on the child's device and transcribed there using Apple's speech recognition; the audio never leaves the device
  • The transcript text is analysed by Halo's AI safety model, by default through our secure processing service (analysed in memory and immediately discarded, never stored) or, if you choose, entirely on the child's device
  • Safety scores and AI-generated summaries (not audio or transcripts) are stored for you to review
  • Audio and transcripts are deleted from the device after analysis
  • AI-generated summaries are paraphrased descriptions of concerning moments, not direct quotes

4. Subscriptions and billing

  • Halo is available via auto-renewable subscription
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID Account Settings

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Halo to monitor anyone without legal authority to do so
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract audio data from the app
  • Use Halo for any unlawful purpose

6. AI-powered analysis

Halo uses artificial intelligence to analyse conversations for safety concerns. Speech recognition runs on the child's device. The language model that analyses the transcript text runs either through our secure processing service (the default, where the text is processed in memory and immediately discarded) or entirely on the child's device, as chosen by the parent. AI-generated summaries shown to parents are paraphrased descriptions and may not be perfectly accurate. They should be used as a guide for conversation with your child, not as a definitive record.

7. Disclaimer

Halo is a safety tool, not a guarantee. While we strive to detect concerning content, no automated system is perfect. Parents should maintain open communication with their children about online safety.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Halo and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Halo after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
