How it works
01 Is voice chat actually being recorded? +
No. Halo monitors the chat on the device itself and never records a thing. Everything is forgotten the moment the session ends. If something flags, you get a summary.
02 Won't there be a lot of false alarms? +
A few, and that's by design: better safe than sorry. In our beta, fewer than 1% of sessions flagged, and about 5% of flags turn out to be nothing. Every flag has a "this was fine" button that teaches Halo your child's context.
03 Isn't this just surveillance? +
No transcripts, no live feed, and your child knows it's running. Most days you'll open the app and see nothing. It's closer to a smoke alarm than a security camera. Think of it as training wheels: you stay connected, they keep the freedom to explore safely.

04 Does my child know Halo is running, and should I tell them? +
Yes, and yes. Children who know there's a backstop are the ones who actually use it. Keep it short: "If anything weird happens, I'll see it, and I'm here." Secret monitoring breaks trust, and reading every message breaks privacy. Halo is built so you never do either.
05 My child is tech-savvy. Won't they uninstall it? +
You'll know if they try. A session without Halo running, or a removed app, shows up on your end.

iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Windows, on one family subscription. Android is in the works.
07 What about Discord and apps like WhatsApp? +
Discord works on Mac and Windows today, and iOS Discord rolls out free to subscribers when it's ready. For now we're focused on gaming, the area that's always gone unwatched.

08 How is Halo different from Bark, Aura, or Qustodio? +
They watch the phone: texts, screenshots, screen time. Halo covers voice and text chat inside the games. Many families run both, the phone from them and the gaming from us.
09 What does it cost, and how do I cancel? +
$99.99 a year, about $8 a month, unlimited children and devices. Cancel with one tap or an email, and your family's data is deleted within 24 hours.
10 I should just talk to my child. Why do I need Halo? +
You should. Halo just gives you something specific to ask about: "Halo flagged something today, can we look at it?" Children open up when you already know enough to ask.
